“If this election is about how we’re going to fight to get nothing done, then … I don’t want any part of it,” he said. “I don’t want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock just become so dominant that people literally are in decline in their lives. That is not my motivation.”
One problem, the Presidency will be littered with moments of fighting……. in the country, in the party, between nations, between ethnicities between….. well, you name it. Many times, the “Big Job” will be littered with moments of idleness, despair, discouragement and “gridlock”. And most of the time people do not give a “ham sandwich” about your motivations or happiness. The major criticism of Jeb Bush is simply that he is low energy. He has been shielded by family name and money from most other criticism that many of the other candidates will go through. The truth is taht whatever he is doing it is not resonating. At all.
And finally the fait accompli……
“I’ve got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and me feeling compelled to demonize them,” Bush said in South Carolina. “That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that.” But the former Florida governor should be careful what he asks for. Like it or not, politics is a buyer’s market, and so far conservatives have not shown much demand for his electoral brand.
Today he is meeting with his father, mother and brother to try to “walk back” the comments and “remedy” the sad situation. But as with Humpty Dumpty……. All the king’s horses and all the king’s men may not be able to cobble Jeb! together again. He may be able, after all, to pursue some of the “cool things” he wants to do.
What do you think?
