Many have been riveted by the revelations by videos – now 5, regarding Planned Parenthood and the reported “harvesting” of human organs. Money changes hands in this level of commerce but there is currently a dispute as to whether or not the organs (livers, and such) are actually sold for profit (presumably it is illegal to profiteer in human body parts) or as “reimbursement” for “expenses”.
The “reimbursement” paradigm is more palatable for some people than than the possibility of doctors without conscience making plans for the new wing on their home, family travel or perhaps a Lamborghini. The “reimbursement” paradigm also provides us the necessary cover for feelings of guilt, (for whatever reason) or the comforting knowledge that should the “problem” of an unwanted pregnancy arise , we have the “problem” covered without the pesky feeling that a part of us could be coldly spliced, diced and sold as spare parts for any reason. “Reimbursement” implies a “helping hand” while “profit” an be thought of as something else…. something colder and less humane.
Essentially, Planned Parenthood,is currently embroiled in a scandal over secret videos capturing its dismemberment of unborn babies and sale of their body parts. In addition, although there has been much objection as to the practice of having the prospective mother view an ultrasound of her baby prior to making the decision to abort, no such though is given by the doctors using the ultrasound procedure to make sure that they preserve and not crush those parts of the child that they need for a particular order.
Callously, one doctor after another discusses in casual talk, or over a glass of wine and a bowl of delectable salad greens, the procedure for procuring bits and pieces of organs, the profitability of each organ and how not to make them “crunchy” —- as though they were speaking of frying potato chips. But I have a few questions for this group of modern day body merchants:
1> Planned Parenthood claims that abortions are only 3 percent of what they provide. If the practice of abortion is only 3 percent of what they do, then could they just not get by on the other 97 percent of their business? Or is there something that I am missing in this equation?
Further, is the abortion counted as an abortion by this organization or as just another one of the services that are offered? For example, say you have the abortion, but first another pregnancy test is performed, then afterward you are checked for an STD or two (say two), then you are prescribed medication, and perhaps you obtain two lab tests. Guess what, the abortion only counts for 20 percent or 1/5 of the procedures that you went in for….
From Oct. 1, 2012 to Sept. 30, 2013, Planned Parenthood performed 327,653 abortions out of 1,058,490 performed in total for that period. That is roughly 30%. Planned Parenthood performs approximately 30 percent of all abortions in the United States per year.
2>I watched as Elizabeth Warren, the Superwoman of the left and reportedly of Native Americans, argue that the videos are “fraudulent”. I have not been able to understand how one can inveigle a doctor to speak about the profit of “baby livers” and making sure that something is not “crunchy”. Is she suggesting that the video technicians used robots or synthesizing machines to change the words in these people’s mouths? Or is she appealing to those people who will stick their fingers in their ears, shut their eyes and scream until given direction, no matter how nonsensical or improbable from someone who will soothe their mind but never and momentarily numb their soul to such barbaric practices not seen outside of a horror film or reports of the experiments of Josef Mengele. No, Warren’s argument was about as thin as her claim that she is a Cherokee Indian tribe member.
3>What does it take to get doctors to the level of callousness about human life that they readily sell the remains of otherwise healthy humans? I watch younger women with the knowledge that technology did not create the ghoulish words and phrases that emanated from the mouths of politicians twist and turn to justify the trafficking of human body parts and I marvel that the human condition has not changed a bit. There is truly nothing new under the sun……..
When I hear the justification that selling human beings is the right thing to do because they are helping the human race with research etc…… I recall that every evil was justified at one time in our history as a necessary “right”. For example, slavery , Jim Crow, misogyny, female gentile mutilation and just about any practice of brutality or evil can be explained away, rationalized and justified as right for humanity because of the god given quality of man’s intellect to reason and justify.
What we have become accustomed to in America is the ability to follow, to act – out, curse people out, give the middle finger and take pills or other things to dull the banality of their existence……But what is now becoming increasingly rare is the ability to THINK. We cry for “leaders” but we destroy them because we are unable to lead ourselves on our small level and because they encourage us to think of greater things. We no longer believe or read Sacred text because it makes us painfully aware of our shortcomings because it causes us to reflect or think about them. Thinking might just make us aware of right and wrong ,which for some is quite painful.
So try to think about this, if the destruction of a small helpless and perfect life — because by definition a baby has no sin, becomes an ordinary and normal way of doing things in our lives, how soon will it be that we deem certain individuals not worthy for anything more than the donation of vital organs. How soon til we callously euthanize the sick or elderly because they “have no value” or they have something of value that we want – maybe he has a great eye, or a healthy kidney or liver……. who cares if he is 26…?
If man can think it, he will do it. Dehumanization is just a thought away. And guess what? Since I started this story…….. 7378 babies have been slaughtered providing untold amounts of livers for the doctors at Planned Parenthood. How’s that for 3 percent?
