Last night, for those who watched, we had a glimpse of how horrific the possibility of a Hillary Clinton “presidency” would be. I put quotations around the word “presidency” because she did one thing and one thing alone last night. She practically spent the entire debacle wrapping herself in the essence of he “savior”, Barrack Obama, using her adoration, uplift and promise that her’s would be HIS third administration.
What do I mean by this? Well for starters he has got her by the two sensitive hairs on her chinny chin chin. He stands between her and legal problems, not to mention between her and the office that she feels she so desires and feels she deserves. Chelsea is too young and too inexperienced to give her props and Bill is too old (much older than his years), too shakey and too unenthusiastic. Huma is too unappealing and has personal drawbacks…… Joe Biden is not too helpful and probably won’t be.
How many times did she mention Obama… well I do believe it was north of 14 times. Hillary Clinton embraced and really “drank in” the policies of the Obama administration from healthcare to economy and foreign policy in particular Iran during her party’s first presidential debate of 2016. So…. does she really love the prez? Nah…. Clinton’s demand of loyalty to the president, and desire to retain her standing among African American voters, was central to a lengthy dispute over healthcare. Pandering, pure and simple.
BTW The main questions posed to Google regarding Clinton Last night were: “Will Hillary Clinton get prosecuted?” people wanted to know. And: “What did Hillary Clinton do that is illegal?” So no wonder the only thing that Clinton did not do was slice her hand and make a blood pledge to Barrack Obama last night.
Martin O’Malley, the “third wheel” of this Saturday night “date” made just one memorable statement “”Lester, just 10 seconds. Just 10 seconds.” as he tried to get in a few words (that no one seemed to care about) before the commercial/bathroom break.
That being said……. Sanders wants a health care plan that even progressives like Ezra Klein question its feasibility. If Obama barely got the ACA through Congress, how does Sanders propose to get his plan passed? Republicans hold majorities in both Houses. So that is one “pie in the sky” dream. But Sanders hit Hillary square in the face with the fact that he was very comfortable in attacking her than in his previous debate encounters. And attack her… he did. Forget about the ole Republicans…. he pursued her with passion and on point.
He hit back at Clinton by insisting that Obama was his friend (that is real important to them) and took a swipe at Clinton over the lucrative months she spent on the speaking circuit after she left the State Department. He said “I don’t take money from big banks, I don’t get personal speaking fees from Goldman Sachs,” Sanders said.
But all in all……When viewing the debate last night, I felt like I was watching a carefully choreographed Clinton TV commercial. The organizers packed the hall (at least those parts of the hall within microphone range) with Clinton supporters. Oh, and of course the time …… I wonder if the next debate will be at 2:00 am after a final four basketball lightening round.
The moderators threw soft ball after soft ball to Hillary Clinton (like reminding Democrats about the good old days when Bill was President by asking her whether he’d be one of her advisers). They gave her far more speaking time than Bernie, especially during the last hour. They wasted Bernie’s speaking time with idiotic questions (like do you regret saying Bill Clinton’s conduct was deplorable and do you have anything to say about whether Bill Clinton should be one of Hillary’s advisers), and they tried to create the impression that Hillary was the inevitable and only electable candidate by asking Bernie such questions as can you expect to win the election when African Americans and Latinos heavily favor Hillary?
Don’t be surprised that more donations and more support will pour in to Bernie’s coffers. Also…… regarding the Black and Hispanic voters….. has anyone checked the luminaries that have migrated to him? It is worth a look – for example Cornell West……
Bernie won this round…..
