A little known or read publication, outside that of committed conservatives, gathered together a group of people they consider to be “conservative elites” and “intellectuals” to write a “hit piece” on front runner Donald Trump. Their goal? Stop him or destroy him. Instead, they have unmasked a truckload of derision in what seems to be a lose-lose business proposition. What publication would cut off readership of a potential market and risk losing its precious small readership? Where do they win on this one?
In addition, The Republican National Committee has disinvited National Review from a presidential debate partnership following the release of an edition devoted to taking down Donald Trump, the conservative magazine reported late Thursday. Said Jack Fowler, publisher of National Review, outlined the RNC’s rationale in a piece published on the magazine’s website: “The reason,” he wrote, explaining the RNC’s stance: “Our ‘Against Trump’ editorial and symposium. We expected this was coming. Small price to pay for speaking the truth about The Donald.”Read more: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/01/national-review-rnc-debate-donald-trump-218098#ixzz3xzkOcXKJ
What a miscalculation. What they have done instead is evoke criticism on both sides of the aisle. Led by their chief “intellectual”, Glen Beck, these “intellectual luminaries”, some of which possess only a high school education(intellectual luminaries apparently do not need much edu-ma-cation)….. they proceeded to try to convince the world, or at least the world that would be receptive to their views that Donald Trump is not only everything odious but also vulgar and in possession other such “ghastly” personality traits that render him “unsuitable” for your vote. And they should know because they are “intellectuals” and “luminaries”.
The following reply is an example of the collective outrage this issue elicited:
“This attack by National Review is More a SLAM at Trump Supporters than at Trump. You see, they think we are so STUPID, that if they just EXPLAIN to us why they think we shouldn’t vote TRUMP, we’ll say, OH, Thank you, all you VERY SMART PEOPLE!! I’m sure we couldn’t make evaluations on our own! After all, no one who supports Mr. Trump has more than a 7th grade Education!..Well, except ME, of course. I have my Master’s Degree and retired from the teaching profession. Oh, and my 2 brothers (a CPA, and an advertising exec from UT…and my sister… Accountant with University of Houston degree. Now that I think about it, you’re all really full of it, aren’t you! I also have many wonderful, smart, self-educated friends who would put you jerks to shame! You are elitists and consider yourselves far above the ‘madding crowd’. This election, we’d like to have someone who represents US. WE DO NOT CARE IF YOU THINK HE IS CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH! All we have to do is look at whom you have chosen in the past. We’ll do it ourselves this time. Thanks anyway and now go back to your booze and selfies!”
Well, I guess they have been “told”. A couple of years ago I met one of the intellectual writers. He spent a few minutes speaking with me at the table. After making the perfunctory replies to his question such as “we met in graduate school”, “I grew up in Germany but was born in Jamaica”, “I am in financial services”, etc…….. In an interview on the radio he made me sound like a handkerchief head Aunt Jemima with heavy, uneducated, ancient southern vernacular. Apparently, he did not hear any of my replies, instead suggesting that I said “Ah gots to keep mah eyes on dat boy!. Ah don’t tek no mess”……… I don’t speak in this manner and I would never say anything like that about my husband.
Take it for what it is worth, our side seems to be playing a baseball game without any equipment but the bats.
