So many issues have become politicized to the point that they serve “the politics” and not the people. Abortion, HIV and Cancer — particularly Breast Cancer are but three of the issues.
First, lets discuss the BIG “A” otherwise known as “Abortion”. On the Republican side, they want to ban it. It does not matter how old the person carrying the baby, whether it was a case of rape, incest or the possible life of the mother is at stake, they believe that abortion should be “illegal”. Marco Rubio, and Mike Huckabee—rejecting the “rape or incest” exemption an overwhelming majority of Americans would approve of. Let’s make this known from the beginning, I am “pro-life”, so please don’t “bomb” my inbox and the comments section with name calling. So I will continue with this discussion and I want to present three cases to you ……… it is hard to read but it will open the eyes to a major problem with “black and white” judgement.
> NO ABORTION ….. NO MATTER WHAT!!!! Derrick Guider, 39, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, (a horribly large and ugly brute of a man) has been charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child under the age of 12 after authorities obtained information that suggested he raped a 10-year-old girl over and over, leading to her becoming pregnant. Guider was dating the young girl’s grandmother and had recently moved into the house. Once he moved in, it didn’t take him long to start sexually abusing the girl.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim and her mother had moved in with the victim’s grandmother last summer, but the mother and grandmother didn’t get along and the mother moved out. The girl, however, continued to reside with her grandmother, Guider’s girlfriend. The girl told investigators Guider assaulted her in the home one night last summer after telling her, “This is how you make money.” The girl said she tried to tell her grandmother in December that Guider had been “messing with her,” but the grandmother did not believe her. When the grandmother took the girl to a pediatrician in January, she was told to immediately take the girl to Children’s Hospital, but did not. Because of this delay, Wisconsin law prohibited an abortion.
On Thursday, June 4th at Aurora Sinai Hospital, a baby girl was born to the 11 year old girl. While Guider’s been in jail awaiting his trial, there are new allegations that he called his girlfriend (the child’s grandmother) several times trying to get her to make up a story, telling the District Attorney, it wasn’t him who assaulted the girl.
In the course of one of those phone calls that a criminal complaint says was made by Darrick Guider from the Milwaukee County Jail to his girlfriend, Guider says, “tell her that (expletive) they already found out who it is, it’s a little boy, thirteen, or whatever. Man, they talking about 60 years man. I can’t do none of this.”
Guider’s girlfriend asked: “What boy thirteen?”
“Just tell them she had a little boyfriend or something, that he, they, she already talked to this parent, they going through that so they can drop the (expletive) against me — and we, this (expletive) is crazy, I can’t do this kind of time,” Guider said.
I suppose this child, a fourth grader, will be expected to raise her baby. The “father” has managed to plead his way out of many of the charges and will be charged with sexual assault in November. He will have to register as a sexual offender and will probably be out of jail in time for his baby girl’s 9th birthday………. I don’t care to know how he will celebrate that day with her.
In the horrible days of 2014, a child was raped by an animal masquerading as a human male and two generations were lost. Would an abortion have helped here? I don’t know because it seems as though the child was being “raised” almost like an animal in the wild without any protection but we should give this horrible situation some thought before spouting off black and white answers to something that might fall within the gray.
>You only need to take a pill! Don’t judge! Who are YOU to tell ME who to Love? Ok, got it. And frankly I don’t care who ANYONE loves. That is up to you and the object of your love and affection. What is not being told is this: HIV is on the rise among young gay and bisexual men.
A 2014 study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found annual diagnoses of HIV among men ages 13-24 who have sex with men rose by 132.5 percent between 2001 and 2011 — a much higher increase than the trend among older gay and bisexual men, and quite stark from the one-third drop in diagnoses among the general population. Previous CDC studies also found a 22 percent increase in new annual HIV infections among these men between 2008 and 2010, and youth aged 13 to 24 accounted for more than one in four new HIV infections in the US in 2010.
The issue here is biological. The most popular sexual act among men who have sex with men — anal sex — is simply much more likely to spread HIV than vaginal sex. Now, this is going to be graphic, but the higher rate of exposure and therefore infection will be with the “receiver” of the anal insertion. Not with the giver. In addition, A CDC survey of high school students found nearly 60 percent of young people with HIV are unaware of their infection, which makes them much less likely to take the proper precautions. In addition, since there is a widespread belief that you only have to take a pill and AIDS is no longer looked at a a “problem”, there is a mistaken belief that it has been “cured”. People are reluctant to speak about it because it is considered “intolerant” and you could be looked at as a “homophobe” or “called a name” or sued for “intolerance”.
Physicians said they’re concerned patients may perceive the recommendation to test as accusatory or judgmental, so they are less likely to make the recommendation. Older gay and bisexual populations who lived through the height of the HIV epidemic do appear more likely to practice safe sex, based on CDC data for HIV-negative or HIV-unknown men in 20 US cities with a high prevalence of HIV/AIDS. About 60 percent of under-40 gay and bisexual men said they had anal sex without a condom in the past year. Only half of gay and bisexual men 40 and older reported having anal sex without a condom in the same time span. Read more at: http://www.vox.com/2014/7/24/5927961/HIV-epidemic-young-men-sex-STD-STI
> Finally: Who the heck needs those expensive mammograms ……..when the alternative is death?
“Six years ago, at the height of the Congressional debate over the polarizing health reform law that would eventually be known as the Affordable Care Act, the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) released new breast cancer screening recommendations that diverged from previous guidelines by starting routine mammography at age 50 years, rather than 40, and recommending screening every 2 years instead of annually. It also found insufficient evidence to support the practice of clinical breast examination in women without breast symptoms, and recommended against teaching women breast self-examination. Now, the American Cancer Society (ACS), which was among the USPSTF’s critics in 2009, has published an update to its guideline on breast cancer screening for women at average risk. After reviewing evidence from older randomized trials and more recent observational studies of screening mammography, the ACS decided to raise the age to begin routine screening from 40 to 45 years and recommends screening women every other year after age 55 years. Finally, they went even further than the USPSTF by advising against performing clinical breast examination for the purpose of breast cancer screening in women of any age.” “http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/853018
For me and the many women like me, that would have been a death sentence. Great way to save a buck on an unfortunate health care act.
What do you think?
